Welcome to Lightspeed Restaurant K Series! This tutorial is meant to guide new merchants using Lightspeed Restaurant through the basic steps of setting up their account. We’ll discuss how to set up your account from the Back Office, along with understanding basic flows on the POS (point-of-sale) app. Once you complete the training guide, you’ll be all set to use Lightspeed Restaurant (K Series) in your establishment!
This guide is split into five main sections: First steps, Menu management, Account setup, Hardware and payments, and finally the POS (K) app. This guide, in conjunction with the training webinars offered by our Onboarding team, are designed to help you best understand the product so you can get the most out of your system.
While this guide takes you through the most efficient setup process, the K Series Help Center offers many more in-depth tutorials. Use the search bar above or explore the navigation menu on the left to dive into a particular topic or article. Come back to this guide at any time to follow our suggested setup flow.

Before starting your onboarding sessions, we recommend exploring the Lightspeed Restaurant product. Log in, take a tour and familiarize yourself with the Back Office. For more information on how to access the Lightspeed Restaurant Back Office, see our tutorial on Logging in to the Back Office or follow the steps below.
The Back Office is the administrative component of Lightspeed Restaurant. From the Back Office, you can set up your menu, create users, and configure devices such as your printers or payment terminals. After signing up with Lightspeed Restaurant, you’ll receive an email from us with your administrative login credentials. Use this login information to access the Back Office and start setting up your account. For more information about logging in to the Back Office for the first time, see Logging in to the Back Office. For more information on logging in to the POS app, see Logging in to the POS app.
After you have configured and set up your Lightspeed Restaurant account from the Back Office, you can connect to and access the POS app. For more information on how to download and connect to the K Series app, access Setting up your iOS device.
Note that the email used to sign up with Lightspeed Restaurant is the same email you’ll need to sign in to the K Series Back Office. This email is automatically assigned as an admin user that can update the Back Office. If more than one person is helping to set up your Back Office account, you can create additional user profiles to access and edit the Back Office. For more information on creating additional admin Back Office users, see About Back Office users.
To set up your account with Lightspeed Restaurant, you’ll need access to the K Series Back Office on a device with a stable internet connection. While you can use a tablet to access the Back Office, we recommend using a desktop to set up your account.
After you’ve logged in to the Back Office, the first component of setting up your account includes creating and editing your menus. See Menu management.
After creating your items and menus, you’ll need to configure your account from the Back Office. See Account set up.
Once your menus and account set up are complete, you can configure printers and payment processing settings. See Hardware and payments.
All set! Once your account is all set up from the Back Office, train staff on the Restaurant POS app. Learn how to clock in, process orders and payments. See Restaurant POS (K) app.
