User roles define the permissions and restrictions for a designated user in Lightspeed K-Series. By defining the user roles within a group, the user automatically adopts these permissions when the user is assigned to a user group.
- From the navigation menu, select Configuration > Users > POS user groups.
- Select the arrow next to edit members.
- Select Configure to edit user roles.
- Select all the user permissions you wish to apply to the selected user group. For more information on the user permissions and what they mean, see table below.
- Select Save.

|POS access||Users in this group are not allowed to login:
Defines if users in this group are allowed to log in to the POS (checkbox unselected) or if users are only allowed to track their shift hours with the POS (checkbox selected).
User float settings
Defines tip and cash flow.
Once you’ve defined user groups and roles you can assign users to a user group to quickly apply roles to groups of employees.
