Transferring items and orders to other tables

After an order has been created and assigned to a table, you can transfer items from that order, or the entire order itself, to another table from within the Restaurant POS app. Use this option if an item was accidentally assigned to the wrong table, or if one table is picking up the bill for another.

Items and orders can only be transferred between tables after having already been sent to a production center.

Transferring items or courses to other tables

To transfer an item from one order to another:

  1. Go to the Orders screen in the Lightspeed Restaurant app and Select the order with the item you wish to transfer. 
  2. Tap Edit  (the pencil icon) next to the item or course you wish to transfer. 
  3. Select  Transfer to another table
  4. There are two ways to select the transfer destination:
    • From the Orders List (default): Select an order from the list and the item will be transferred to that order.

    • From the Floor Plan: From the Orders List, tap Floor plan to see an overview of your restaurant's floors and occupied tables. Tap the table where you want to transfer this item, and then tap Select to confirm.

Transferring items using Edit Mode

If you need to transfer multiple items to another table quickly, use Edit Mode to select all of the items you want to move to another order and transfer them all at once.

  1. Go to the Orders screen in the Lightspeed Restaurant app and Select the order containing the items you wish to transfer. 
  2. Tap Edit Order
  3. Select the item(s) you want to transfer.
  4. Tap Transfer.

  5. There are two ways to select the transfer destination:
    • From the Orders List (default): Select an order from the list and the item will be transferred to that order.
    • From the Floor Plan: From the Orders List, tap Floor plan to see an overview of your restaurant's floors and occupied tables. Tap the table where you want to transfer this item, and then tap Select to confirm.

Transferring entire orders to other tables

If an order has already been assigned to a table and sent to a production center, you can reopen that order and transfer it to another table.

  1. Go to the Orders screen in the Lightspeed Restaurant app and Select the order you wish to transfer. 
    • (Alternatively: go to the Tables screen, tap the table you wish to transfer, and then tap Select to confirm).
  2. Tap Actions.

  3. Select  Transfer to another table
  4. If you know the number of the table to which you're transferring the order, enter it using the numeric keypad and then tap Transfer. Otherwise, tap Browse tables to see a list of active orders.
  5. There are two ways to select the transfer destination:
    • From the Orders List (default): Select an order from the list to merge the currently selected order into another existing one.
    • From the Floor Plan: From the Orders List, tap Floor plan to see an overview of your restaurant's floors and occupied tables. Tap the table where you want to transfer this order, and then tap Select to confirm.
  6. Tap Merge to finish.
