Order profiles allow you to apply preset settings to orders at the POS. For example, you can use them to designate orders as takeaway or utilize multiple-pricing schemes for items.
Adding order profiles
Add an order profile so you can start using it in the Restaurant POS app. If you have multiple business locations, order profiles will be shared between them so you only need to create each once. You can set up automatic schedules for each profiles or later add menu buttons for manual activation.
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant account credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Configuration > Settings > Order profiles.
- Click Add order profile.
- Enter a Name and Code for the order profile.
- Name: The order profile name shown in the Back Office and on the POS when selecting the profile.
- Code: Unique code of the order profile shown in the Back Office.
- Configure the remaining order profile settings to match your business needs. Settings are split into several sections:
- Details: Covers some basic functionality of the order profile.
- Takeaway: Allows you to enable specialized delivery or pickup settings.
- QR Code: Enable a QR code that can be scanned at the POS to apply the order profile.
- Service charges and gratuities: Apply an automatic service charge or a gratuity.
- Schedule: Set the order profile to be used automatically during certain time periods.
- Click Save to save the changes.
Order profile settings
Order profile settings are divided into sections: Details, Takeaway, Qr code, Service charges and gratuities, and Schedule. Read on to learn what each setting means and how it impacts orders when using that order profile.
Details section
- Name: The order profile name shown in the Back Office and on the POS when selecting the profile.
- Code: Unique code of the order profile shown in the Back Office.
- Continuous: Order profile remains active for all orders all the time after selection.
- Order modifier: Affects the tax rate and item price of already posted items in the checkout that has not yet been paid.
Takeaway section

Takeaway mode: Select Pick up or Delivery to view and manage additional settings for these types of takeaway orders.

Order completion: Select when paid orders will be closed at the POS. Available options are:
- Complete when payment is received (automatically close order when it is paid)
- Complete when ready for delivery (auto-close order when it is marked ready for delivery)
- Complete when delivered (auto-close order when it is marked delivered)
- Complete manually in POS (must manually close order at POS by tapping Pay)

Delivery delay or Production deadline: Prints an amount of time on order tickets to tell the kitchen when the order needs to be ready by. Available options are:
- No delivery time or Disabled (no delivery or pickup time is printed)
- No delivery delay or As soon as possible (a delivery or pickup time of ASAP is printed)
- Custom delivery delay or Custom deadline (enter a specific number of minutes for the delivery or pickup time)
- Require adding customer to order: Prompts staff to add a customer to the order at the POS before they can continue.
- Show delivery code on receipt: Adds a delivery code to all receipts that can be used to verify and confirm the order.
- Print a draft receipt when the order is created: Prints a draft receipt when the order is created, which can be used during the preparation process.
- Print a draft receipt when the order is ready: Prints a draft receipt when the order is ready to help ensure that it is fully prepared and ready for pickup or delivery.
- Disable receipt print for online orders: Stops the automatic printing of receipts for orders placed online to help reduce paper waster.
- Play sound when receiving online order: Triggers an audio alert at the POS to alert staff when a new online order is received.

Order completion: Select when paid orders will be closed at the POS. Available options are:
QR code section
- Enable QR code: Generates a QR code that will apply the order profile when scanned at the POS. After enabling this setting, you can Export the QR code, Regenerate a new code, or Edit the existing code.
Service charges and gratuities section
- Service charge: Select an existing service charge item to automatically add a fixed percentage of the order to its total for service costs. To create a new service charge: click Create global service charge, set the price type to Price as a percentage, and complete the other item details.
- Automatic gratuity: Enter a fixed percentage of the order total to automatically charge as a tip / gratuity.
- Apply to quick payment buttons: Gratuity will be applied when using quick payment buttons.
Schedule section
Set a schedule for when the order profile will be automatically applied to orders on the POS.
- Click Add schedule to begin creating a schedule.
- In the Days column, select a specific day or All days.
- Enter a start and end time for that part of the schedule.
- (Optional) Check the Direct sales and/or Table orders boxes to apply the order profile to those types of orders.
- (Optional) Toggle the Activated setting to enable the schedule immediately on the POS or disable it to save for future use.
- (Optional) To add additional parts to the schedule, click Add. Then repeat steps 2-5.
- Click Save to save changes.
