Understanding the Staff Performance report

The Staff Performance report presents staff sales data in an easy-to-understand visual format, allowing you to view the data at a glance. Use this page to view and filter data in order to better understand the performance of your staff.

Accessing the Staff Performance report

Access the Staff Performance report from the Back Office.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. From the navigation menu, select Reports > Staff performance.

Filtering the Staff Performance report

Use the filtering options to view and compare information from specific time frames, as well as specific users or user groups.

  1. Choose a date range from the calendar dropdown menu, such as Last 7 Days, and click Apply.
  2. (Optional) Filter the date range by change interval, day of the week, POS user, or shift using the other dropdown menus.
    • Change interval: Choose between Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly. For example, you can view your YTD (Year to Date) data broken down by week.
    • Days of the week: Choose a day or days of the week. For example, you can view only the sales data from the weekend by checking off Fri, Sat, and Sun.
    • POS users: Choose the POS user or user group. For example, you can view only the performance data from your managers.
    • Shifts: Choose the shift or a time range. For example, you can view the sales data from only the morning shift.

Understanding the Staff Performance Report

The Staff Performance bar shows the total of the chosen time period's Net sales, Hours worked, POS users, Tips, and Sales per hour.

The Staff Performance chart displays a graphical overview of data filtered by specific criteria, including Net sales, Hours worked, and Sales per hour.

The Staff Performance table displays data per day, broken down by employee. The columns in this section can be adjusted to filter the data.

Use the Staff Performance bar to view important staff-related information at a glance.

  • Net sales: The total of all sales and services after discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Hours worked: The total number of hours worked based on all staff clock-in and clock-out times on the POS.
  • POS users: The total number of POS users registered in the Back Office.
  • Tips: The total amount in tips given in both cash and by card.
  • Sales per hour: The average amount in sales per hour.

Use the Staff Performance chart to view data filtered by specific criteria, such as particular users, sales per hour, and net sales. This information will change depending on your filters.

To filter the chart:

  1. Click By Date, By User, or By User Groups.
  2. Click the dropdown menu and choose a metric.
  • By Date: View your selected metric separated out by date.
  • By User: View your selected metric separated out by POS users. POS users can be added or managed from POS > Users.
  • By User Groups: View your selected metric separated out by user groups. User groups can be added or managed from POS > User groups.
  • Sales per hour: The average amount in sales per hour.
  • Hours worked: The total number of hours worked based on all staff clock-in and clock-out times on the POS.
  • Net sales: The total of all sales and services after discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Discounts: The total amount in discounts given out at the POS.
  • Voids: The total amount in voids given out at the POS.
  • Tips: The total amount in tips given in both cash and by card.

Hover over a point in the graph to view the date and an exact number for the chosen metric.

Staff Performance table

Use the Staff Performance table to view a comprehensive breakdown of sales data filtered by specific criteria, including Gross sales, Net sales, and Cover average. Click the arrow beside each date to expand the row and view the data broken down by the employees that worked that date.

Show or hide columns by clicking the gear wheel and checking boxes to show columns, or unchecking them to hide columns.

Columns that have three-dot menus can be filtered further by clicking the three dots and choosing an option from the list, then entering the required value or values. This filter will apply to the employee data individually. For example, if you wish to filter for Net sales between $500 and $1500, the filter will show all sales that each employee made between those values, even if the total value is higher than $1500.

  • Date: A list of dates defined by your selected filters.
  • Hours worked: The total number of hours worked based on all staff clock-in and clock-out times on the POS.
  • Gross sales: The total of all sales and services before discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Net sales: The total of all sales and services after discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Tips: The total amount in tips given in both cash and by card.
  • Covers: The total number of covers.
  • Cover average (gross): The average each cover spent before discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Cover average (net): The average each cover spent after discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Orders: The total number of orders.
  • Order average (gross): The average amount spent per order before discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Order average (net): The average amount spent per order after discounts and taxes are removed.
  • Refunds: The total amount in refunds given out at the POS.
  • Discounts: The total amount in discounts given out at the POS.
  • Voids: The total amount in voids made at the POS.
  • Comps: The total amount in comps given out at the POS.
  • Service charges: The total amount in service charges added at the POS.
  • Taxes: The total amount paid in taxes.
  • Losses: The total amount in losses.
  • No cover orders: The total amount in no cover orders, such as those placed for takeaway.
