Visit the Time of day report to identify your restaurant’s busiest times of the day so you can schedule your staff accordingly. You can use the data in this report to avoid overstaffing on typically slow days or understaffing on generally busy days. Report times automatically update according to your sales data.
Accessing the Time of day report
Advanced Insights organizes your sales data in a graph. To get started, choose a location and time frame.
- Sign in to your Advanced Insights dashboard.
- In the main navigation menu, click Sales. On the Sales page, select the Time of day tab.
- At the top of the navigation menu, click the Location drop-down and select whether to run the report for a particular location or All locations.
- By default, the report displays data for the last 28 days. To choose a different time frame, click the calendar drop-down in the upper right corner.
You cannot select a custom time period for this report.
Understanding the Time of day graph
The Time of day graph is a visual representation of your sales data organized by time of day over the course of a week. Hover over a time of day to view an hourly breakdown of Average net sales, Average transactions, Average sale, and Repeat visits. For a description of each metric, see the table below.
Time of day metrics
Metrics | Description |
Average net sales | The average net sales during an hour. |
Average transactions | The average check amount. This is calculated by dividing the total net sales by the total number of tickets. |
Average sale | The average sale amount for the hour. This is calculated by dividing the average net sales amount by the average number of transactions. |
Repeat visits | The number of transactions that indicate a repeat visit, based on the card used. |
