Use the Restaurant POS app to create, track, and manage takeaway orders that are placed in person or over the phone. To start creating takeaway orders, you will first need to make an order profile with Takeaway Mode enabled.

Setting up an order profile for takeaway
First, set up an order profile in the Back Office with Takeaway mode enabled. If you are offering both pick up and delivery, make separate order profiles for each.
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Business > Order profiles.
- Click + Add order profile to create a new order profile.
- Enter a name for the order profile. We recommend naming it according to how the order is placed, e.g., In person or Phone order.
- Set Takeaway Mode to either Pick-up or Delivery.
- Configure the remaining order profile settings to match your business needs. Settings are split into the following sections:
- Details: Covers some basic functionality of the order profile.
- Takeaway: Allows you to enable specialized delivery or pick-up settings.
- QR Code: Enable a QR code that can be scanned at the POS to apply the order profile.
- Service charges and gratuities: Apply an automatic service charge or a gratuity.
- Schedule: Set the order profile to be used automatically during certain time periods.
- Click Save.
Once your order profiles have been saved, reload the POS to begin taking takeaway orders.
Creating a takeaway order
Once the takeaway order profile is set up, enter the orders manually to track and manage them in the Restaurant POS app.
- Navigate to the Register screen.
- Add all items to the order by selecting them from the menu.
- Tap Actions.
- Select the order profile intended for either delivery or pick-up orders.
- (Optional) Assign acustomer to the order.
- Tap Send to issue the order to the production center, such as the kitchen or bar.
Once sent to the kitchen or bar, the order will appear in the Pickup / Delivery section of the Orders screen.
Viewing and managing takeaway orders
To view and manage takeaway orders:
- In the Lightspeed Restaurant app, navigate to the Orders screen.
- On the Order management screen, tap Pickup / Delivery.
- (Optional) Slide the screen left to right to scroll through the available columns.
- (Optional) Use the Mark as button to advance the order to the next phase of production: Ready for delivery, Delivered, etc.
- (Optional) Use the More actions button to update the order status, pick-up time or to close out the order.
