Connection requirements

The Socket Mobile scanners connect to your iPad via Bluetooth. To ensure that the scanner can connect to your iPad, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.

  1. On your iPad, go to Settings
  2. Select  Bluetooth.
  3. Ensure that it is enabled. If not, toggle it On .

Charging your scanner

Fully charge your barcode scanner for at least 6 hours before using it for the first time. To charge your barcode scanner:

  1. Connect the power pin-end of the charging cable to the power connector on the right side of the scanner.
  2. Connect the USB end of the charging cable to a power supply and plug in a power outlet. Connecting to a computer USB port is not recommended.

Pairing your scanner

  1. Turn on the scanner by pressing the power button.

  2. Scan the Application Mode (MFi-SPP) barcode to put your scanner into iOS mode.

After scanning the above barcode, there should be three audible chimes. If you do not hear chimes, entering iOS mode failed, and you should start over or see the Troubleshooting section.

  3. On your iPad, go to Settings
  4. Select  Bluetooth.
  5. Tap the Socket CHS scanner listed under Other Devices.

If the scanner is appearing in the Bluetooth list on your iPad but not connecting, tap the information icon  and select Forget This Device. Next, hold down the two top buttons on the scanner until you hear 3 descending tones. You've now successfully unpaired the scanner. Try pairing the scanner again using the steps above.

Enabling Auto mode

SocketScan S740 only

Auto Mode allows you to scan a barcode without having to handle the scanner or press the scan button. Instead, you can simply wave the barcode in front of the stationary scanner. This function requires a Socket Mobile Charging Stand.

  1. Pair and connect the scanner to your device before placing it in Auto Mode. The Scanner is not discoverable when in Auto Mode and on the Stand. We recommend disabling Bluetooth on your device before proceeding to step 2.
  2. Scan the barcode below:

  3. Auto Mode is now enabled, and you can place the scanner in the Socket Mobile Charging Stand.

Troubleshooting

When you encounter issues connecting the scanner or scanning items, you can try resetting it to its factory settings in order to get a fresh start. Reset your scanner by scanning the barcode below, or reset it manually by following these steps.
