In Lightspeed Restaurant, users are considered to be anyone within your organization that uses the POS or has access to the Back Office.
POS users
POS users are users that have access to the Lightspeed Restaurant app. Some users, like managers, may have access to all the functions of the POS. Others may only be able to use the POS to clock in and out. User permissions are settings that allow user functions, such as access to receipts and tickets, order profiles, or the cash drawer.
POS users can be assigned to a POS user group, which allows you to manage POS user permissions for a collection of users instead of each user individually.
POS user groups
Use POS user groups to quickly assign multiple permissions to users. Assign users to one of four types of groups in the Back Office, or leave a user out of a group to configure their permissions manually.
- Floor staff: Users in this group can only access settings configured by a manager.
- Manager: Users in this group can access all POS settings.
- Trainee: Users in this group can only process practice transactions, which won't affect sales data or reports.
- Shift tracker: Users in this group can only use the POS to clock in and out in order to track shift hours.
Users can be reassigned to a different group at any time.
Back Office users
Back Office users are users that have access to the Back Office. Set permissions for these users to enable or restrict access to chosen areas of the Back Office, such as editing settings, accessing financial information, or editing integrations and add-ons.
