Hi. How can we help?

Adding notes to orders

Add notes to an order to quickly apply common instructions and communicate order details more consistently during service.

You can select one or more notes that you've pre-created in the Back Office or enter a custom note. Notes can be assigned to an entire order, individual items, a course, or a seat. All notes appear on the KDS and printed order dockets but not on customer receipts. For pre-created notes, you can toggle off this print setting in the Back Office.

Add a note to an order

Add an order-level note to communicate instructions that apply to the entire ticket, such as VIP or Rush.

  1. From the Register screen, create a new order.
  2. In the order summary section, tap Add notes.

Add a note to an item

Add an item-level note to provide preparation instructions, allergy details, or custom requests for a specific item.

To use item-level notes, all POS devices at your restaurant must be updated to Lightspeed Restaurant version 26.40 or later.

  1. From the Register screen, create a new order and add an item.
  2. In the order summary section, tap the three dots icon (More) to the right of an item.

  5. Tap Save.
