What's New: May 2026 - Faster menu updates, easier bookings, automatic table assignments, and more

From Back Office enhancements to POS updates and more, here’s what’s been added or improved.

Some features take effect automatically, but others require an update. To access everything new, update the Lightspeed Restaurant app via the App Store outside of business hours on all POS devices.

New

Turn Google searches into guest bookings

Thanks to our Reserve with Google integration, guests can now discover and book directly from Google Search and Maps, which can help you increase conversion from high-intent diners. Make your booking availability visible on Google Maps, and let reservation information flow directly into Lightspeed Reservations.

To enable the Google integration, navigate to your Back Office > Reservations and then complete the setup via your Google Business profile.

Automate your table assignments

It’s now even easier to manage your table bookings with automatic table assignments that assign a suitable table to a new online booking based on guest count. On the POS, staff can simply accept, change or skip the suggestion if necessary.

There’s no setup required; table assignments will now automatically apply to online bookings.

Tailor allergens to your menu

It’s now easy to customize, reorder and delete allergens in Back Office for a more tailored experience. You can now add free-text allergens and reorder or delete them in the Back Office, while still allowing custom allergens at the item level.

How to set it up

  1. Log in to the Back Office.
  2. Navigate to Menu > Production instructions > Allergens.
  3. Click Add allergen, enter your allergens, and click Save.
  4. Reorder or delete as needed.

Speed up orders with preset notes

Create reusable notes in the Back Office to save time, reduce errors and keep kitchen instructions consistent. You can also reorder notes and choose whether they print on the order ticket, plus staff can still add ad-hoc notes at POS if needed.

How to set it up

  1. Log in to the Back Office.
  2. Navigate to Menu > Production instructions > Notes.
  3. Click Add note, enter your notes, and click Save.
  4. Reorder and/or toggle Ticket printing per note.

Reprint orders with ease

Reprint full orders, choose production centers and access closed accounts with no more limitations. Reprinting orders works on both open and closed accounts.

How to set it up

  1. Select full-order reprint from the account.
  2. Choose relevant production center(s).

Resend gift cards in seconds

Re-trigger gift card emails from Back Office with one click; no support needed.

No manual setup is required. The Resend gift card email button will automatically appear in your Back Office Gift card details view, provided a recipient email address is attached to the gift card.

Boost orders with Menu Upsells

Recommend top-selling items in Order Anywhere to increase order amount and help customers discover more.

You must have 150+ overall orders in the past 21 days in order to use automated menu upsells.

How to set it up

  1. Log in to the Order Anywhere Back Office.
  2. Navigate to Offers > Menu upsells.
