PayPal (formerly Zettle) is a third-party payment processor that lets you accept card payments in the Restaurant POS app with the PayPal Reader.
What you'll need
- PayPal Reader
- Power adapter USB-C
- USB-C to USB-C cable
The PayPal Reader also requires your iPad or iPhone to run iOS 14 or later.
Setting up the payment type
- In the Back Office, navigate to Payment > Payment methods
- Click Add payment method.
- From the Payment method type drop-down menu, select Zettle.
- In the Name field, enter "PayPal". The name of the payment method will display on the POS and on the customer receipt.
- Configure the payment method settings.
- Select Save.
Connecting the PayPal Reader to Restaurant POS
- Power on the PayPal Reader and connect it to your iPad or iPhone through Bluetooth.
- In Restaurant POS, process an order using the new PayPal payment method.
- When prompted during the order, sign in to your PayPal account and select the serial number of the PayPal Reader. This establishes the integration between Restaurant POS and PayPal.
Your PayPal Reader is now set up and ready to accept payments in Restaurant POS.
FAQ
- Refund the receipt in Restaurant POS. When prompted on the PayPal Reader, review the message “Do you want to refund the transaction?”, then press Confirm.
- No. Changing the payment method in Restaurant POS doesn’t refund the original PayPal payment. You need to process the refund in your PayPal portal.
- No. Voiding a receipt in the Back Office doesn’t refund the customer. To return the funds, process the refund manually in your PayPal portal.
