Lightspeed apps now verify the age of users in certain US states to comply with new age-verification laws. As a result, Lightspeed may securely sign you out and ask you to verify your age before you can continue using a Lightspeed app.
Follow the instructions for your Apple or Google account to verify your age and regain access.
If you don't meet the minimum age requirement for your region, or your age can't be verified, you won't be able to access Lightspeed apps.
1. Completing age-verification prompts
Follow any prompts from Apple or Google to verify the account holder's age or share their age range with the Lightspeed app.
2. Updating the account's birthday (if required)
If the account doesn't have a birthday on file, or the date is incorrect, update it before trying to access the Lightspeed app again.

New laws in certain US states require app stores and app developers to verify the age of users. These requirements currently apply in Texas. Similar requirements are scheduled to apply in:
- California, beginning January 1, 2027
- Utah, beginning May 6, 2027
- Louisiana, beginning July 1, 2027
The requirements and implementation dates may change as laws are amended or challenged.
- Staff members who are 13 or older can access the Lightspeed app after their age is verified. Staff members who are under 13, or whose age can't be verified, can't access the Lightspeed app.
- No. Lightspeed only receives your age range from Apple or Google for the age-verification check. Lightspeed doesn't receive your exact birthday or age, and this information isn't kept after the check is complete.
- No. Lightspeed Support can't change the age or age-verification status associated with your Apple or Google account. If your age can't be verified or your account information is incorrect, follow the instructions from Apple or Google to resolve the issue.
