From Back Office enhancements to POS updates and more, here’s what’s been added or improved.
Some features take effect automatically, but others require an update. To access everything new, update the Lightspeed Restaurant app via the App Store outside of business hours on all POS devices.

How to set it up
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
- From the navigation menu, click the location switcher dropdown and select Locations Manager.
- Click Activate to enable Lightspeed Locations Manager.
New in Back Office
Update
Work smarter with Lightspeed AI
Lightspeed AI now opens in a side panel instead of a pop-up, keeping Back Office pages fully visible while you ask questions and act on insights. The panel opens automatically whenever you ask the AI a question, with options to expand or close it whenever needed.
At the moment, this update only applies to Admin Pages.
KDS updates
Update
Keep KDS connections stable
Supported on KDS browser stations running Android 12 or newer.
KDS Local gives browser-based KDS stations a stable way to connect to the POS Hub using the kds.local hostname. With automatic local network discovery, stations can maintain their connection when the POS Hub’s IP changes, reducing dropouts and manual reconfiguration.
How to set it up
- Navigate to Quick settings.
- Tap Switch to kds.local.
- Follow the instructions.
