Printer information
Setting | Description |
Name | Choose a name for the device. We recommend naming it based on location or the device type—for example, Kitchen printer or Epson Printer. |
IP address | Enter the printer's IP address. If you need help finding your printer's IP address, see if your printer has a dedicated setup guide listed on our Support hardware page, or visit our Setting up a printer article. |
Driver | Click this field to open a drop-down menu, and select your printer's driver. Note: A printer driver is a software that allows a computer to send print jobs to a printer by translating commands from the computer into a format the printer can understand. |
Disable status check | When enabled, this option stops the POS from regularly checking the printer's status (e.g., ink levels, paper levels, or connectivity). This is mandatory for some older printers, like the TSP100IV/TSP143IV, which do not support real-time status updates. |
Use Lightspeed QR code encoder | When bills/draft receipts are printed out for older printers, enabling this option prints the QR code compatible with Zapper/SnapScan integrations. The customer can scan this QR code to process the payment. |
Editing a printer
Edit a printer to update its settings. Doing so is especially useful when a temporary disconnection causes an IP address change, requiring you to adjust the printer's IP in the Back Office.
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Credentials.
- From the main navigation menu, go to Configuration > Printing > Printers.
- Click Edit next to the printer you want to change.
- Update your printer details and information. See Printer information to learn more about what each setting controls.
- Click Save to finish.
Deleting printers
Remove printers that are no longer used or needed in Back Office.
Printers linked to a Printing Profile cannot be removed. To remove a printer, first ensure it's not linked to any printing profiles.
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Credentials.
- From the main navigation menu, go to Configuration > Printing > Printers.
- Click Remove next to the printer you want to delete.
