Applying discounts

Discounts reduce the price of an entire order or individual items within the order on the POS.

Discounts must be created in the Back Office before they can be used in the POS. Discounts can be applied to an order in a variety of ways, including editing an order, creating a button on the menu screen, or by scanning a QR code.

Applying a discount using item or order actions

To apply a discount to an entire order or item, you can edit the order to apply any discount the current POS user may have permission to use.

Applying a discount to an order

To access Edit mode, add an order item to the transaction. A quick action button above the keypad will appear called Actions.

  1. From the Register tab, create a new order with at least one item attached.
  2. Tap Actions.
  3. Select the discount you wish to apply to the order.

    Only items in accounting groups you’ve selected for the discount will be affected.

  4. Complete the order as normal.

Applying a discount to an item

You can also apply discounts at the item level, rather than discounting the entire order. To discount an item within an order:

  1. From the Register tab, create a new order with at least one item attached.
  2. Tap the Edit button next to the item you wish to discount.
  3. From the Item actions menu, select the discount you wish to apply to the item.

    The item will only be affected if it's in an accounting group you’ve selected for the discount.

  4. Complete the order as normal.

Adding a discount to an order via the menu

You can create buttons on your menu that will apply a discount when pressed. These buttons must be created through the Back Office before they can be used in the POS.

  1. From the Register tab, create a new order.
  2. Select the discount you wish to apply from the Menu.

    Only items in accounting groups you’ve selected for the discount will be affected.

Adding a discount to an order by scanning a QR code

Once a discount has been created, you can enable a scannable QR code for the discount, allowing you to add a discount to an order with a quick scan.

  1. From the Register tab, create a new order.
  2. Tap the scan icon in the upper right corner.

  4. Complete the order as normal.
