What's new: November 2024

See what’s new in Lightspeed Restaurant (K-Series) in this batch of updates. From Back Office enhancements to POS updates and more, here’s what’s been added or improved.

Some features take effect automatically, but others require an update. To access everything new, update the Lightspeed Restaurant app via the App Store outside of business hours on all POS devices.

Back Office

Managing your restaurant in the Back Office is now more efficient with updates to reporting, item pricing, and production instructions.

New

Benchmarks and Trends report

New in reporting! Starting with merchants in the US, we recently released Benchmarks and Trends to offer you personalized performance benchmarks that go beyond industry averages.

With Benchmarks and Trends, you can:

  • See how you stack up against similar restaurants in your market for more meaningful and actionable insights.
  • Spot new trends early (and capitalize on them) and discover opportunities to maximize success.
  • Make data-based decisions about your menu, pricing strategy, hours, staff training, and more.

Update

Additional prices within item groups

If some options within a group are more expensive than others, you can now easily assign an additional price for each option within the item itself.

For example, let’s say you have a Pint and a Burger combo and it comes with a pint of domestic draft (included in the price). But you want to give customers the option to get a premium beer with the combo for an additional charge.

Instead of creating separate items for each pint option in this combo, you can simply:

  1. Select or create your Pint and Burger combo.
  2. Within the Group Settings section of the combo, select Choices have set price for the group.
  3. If you need to add your item choices, click the Add button and either select a pre-existing group or create a new one. When you’ve got your list of item choices, simply type in the desired surcharge for each premium choice in their respective text box.
  4. Save.

Update

Production instruction management

Big news in production, you can now:

  • Delete production instructions: This action removes instructions completely, unlinking them from any menu or item. Once they’re deleted, they’re gone for good.
  • Import production instructions: Easily import production instructions from a .XLSX or .CSV file.
  • Add multiple production instructions to an item: For example, specify two flavors for a double-scoop ice cream cone.
  • Rename production centers: Previously impossible, you can now easily update production center names, eliminating the need to create unnecessary new ones. To access, go to Configuration > Printing > Production Centers.

We’ve improved the POS experience for you and your staff with updates to discounting and order tickets.

New

Non-discountable service charges and items

Now for an update your servers are going to love. You now have the flexibility to exclude service charges from being discounted when a discount is applied to the entire bill.

In the Back Office, edit any item and uncheck the Item can be discounted setting to prevent that item from being discounted at the POS.

Sort items by seat on order tickets

You wanted more flexibility to customize kitchen tickets to your workflows, and now you’ve got it. This feature is designed to help improve the readability of order tickets by sorting items by seat rather than by the sequence in which they were entered.

In the Back Office, edit any POS configuration and enable the Sort items by seat on order tickets setting to apply this feature at the POS.

We've expanded Order Anywhere and our Uber integrations to help you get more out of your system.

New

Order Anywhere: Order history, reorder, and rate an order

Your online customers can now view their order history and reorder their favorites directly from their order history in Order Anywhere, streamlining the ordering process and getting orders into customers’ hands faster. They can even rate their order, which merchants can review (and act on, if necessary) in the backend of Order Anywhere.

Uber Eats: Replacing out-of-stock items

Lightspeed Restaurant merchants selling on Uber Eats can now give online customers the option to replace an out-of-stock item with another item rather than having to cancel their entire online order.
