Understanding the Hourly Sales Report

The Hourly Sales Report gives a quick, graphical overview of sales performance per hour. This report only displays data for a maximum of 31 days, and only applies to a single location at a time.

Accessing the Hourly Sales Report

Access the Hourly Sales Report from the navigation bar in the Back Office.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
  2. Click Reports > Hourly Sales.

Filtering the Hourly Sales Report

Use the filtering options to view information from specific time frames. These filters are optional and can be combined as needed.

  • In the first dropdown menu, choose a date range, such as Last 7 Days, and click Apply.
  • In the second dropdown menu, check off the specific day or days of the week that you wish to view and click Apply.
  • In the third dropdown menu, choose a specific shift, such as Lunch, or a Start time and an End time, which will allow you to view multiple shifts. Click Apply.

  • Click the gear icon to choose which columns to show or hide in the hourly breakdown table, then click Apply.

Understanding the Hourly Sales Report

The hourly sales graph displays your Gross or Net sales broken down by each hour. Use the dropdown to switch between Gross sales and Net sales.

The hourly breakdown tabs display more targeted information about your hourly sales.

Use the hourly sales graph to quickly toggle between Gross sales and Net sales and view this information broken down by hour. This information will change depending on your filters.

Hover over a bar on the graph to view that specific hour's Gross sales, Orders, and Covers.

Hourly breakdown table

The hourly breakdown table provides details on your hourly sales in some important areas, including Gross sales, Net sales, and Taxes.

Hours: A list of each hour in a 24-hour time period.

Split % by sales: The percentage of all gross sales for each accounting group, totalling to 100%. This percentage is calculated by taking the total amount of gross sales and dividing it by the overall total amount of gross sales.

Split % by covers: The percentage of all covers for each accounting group, totalling to 100%. This percentage is calculated by taking the total number of covers and dividing it by the overall total number of covers.

Split % by orders: The percentage of all orders for each accounting group, totalling to 100%. This percentage is calculated by taking the total number of orders and dividing it by the overall total number of orders.

Gross sales: The total amount per hour of all sales and services before discounts and taxes are removed.

Net sales: The total amount per hour of all sales and services after discounts and taxes are removed.

Covers: The number of covers for each hour.

Cover average (gross): The total per hour of all sales and services before discounts and taxes, divided by the total number of covers in the same hour.

Sales with covers (net): The total amount per hour of sales with covers after discounts and taxes.

Cover average (net): The total amount per hour of all sales and services after discounts and taxes, divided by the total number of covers in the same hour.

Sales with covers (gross): The total amount per hour of sales with covers before discounts and taxes.

Orders: The number of individual orders for each hour.

Order average (gross): The average total amount of all orders per hour before discounts and taxes.

Order average (net): The average total amount of all orders per hour after discounts and taxes.

Tips: The amount made in tips per hour. Adjust your tips settings in the Back Office.

Refunds: The amount in refunds given out on orders for each hour.

Discounts: The amount in discounts given out on orders for each hour. Set up discounts in the Back Office.

Voids: The amount in voids given out on orders for each hour.

Comps: The amount in comps given out on orders for each hour.

Surcharges: The amount in additional charges or fees on orders for each hour.

Taxes: The amount of taxes on paid orders for each hour. The information here will depend on your tax settings in the Back Office.

Losses: The amount in losses for each hour.

No cover orders: The number of completed orders that had no covers.
