The Gift cards statistics dashboard applies to both Gift cards and Gift cards 2.0. If you are using the old gift card version and want to switch, follow the instructions in our Setting up gift cards 2.0 article.
Gift cards are one of the most valuable tools in your business toolkit. In addition to being a convenient substitute for cash, gift cards can attract new customers to your restaurant and encourage customer loyalty.
The Gift cards statistics dashboard in the Back Office gives a quick, graphical overview of gift card performance. Use this dashboard to view information about your gift cards, including total cards sold, outstanding balances, and top refill methods.
To download a copy of this data, click Download, choose from CSV (comma-separated values) or XLSX (Excel), and click Download again.
Accessing the Gift cards statistics dashboard
Access the Gift cards statistics dashboard from the Back Office.
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Customers > Statistics.
Filtering the Gift cards statistics dashboard
Use the filtering options to narrow statistics by date range and location. Click each dropdown to change these filters.
Date range: The default option is Last week. This can be changed to Today, Last month, or Last year. Click the date range you want to view, or enter a custom date range using the calendar, then click Apply.
Location: The default option is the current location. Check the box beside each location you want to view, then click Apply.
Understanding the Gift cards statistics dashboard
The statistics percentages bar shows the total number of gift cards sold, the percentage of active cards, the percentage of empty cards, and the percentage of assigned cards. This data applies to the chosen date range and location.
The statistics breakdowns show the total outstanding balance on gift cards, gift card usage versus net turnover, and the top methods used to refill gift cards. This data applies to the chosen date range and location.
The activity section displays gift card activity for the chosen date range and location, displaying Loads and Redemptions. More detailed information on loads and redemptions can be found below the chart.
Understanding the statistics percentages bar
Use the percentages bar to quickly learn what percentage of total cards sold are active, empty, and assigned.
- Total cards sold: The total number of cards sold at the selected locations during the chosen date range.
- Active cards: The percentage of total cards sold that have been used for transactions, for the chosen date range and locations.
- Empty cards: The percentage of total cards sold that have a balance of zero, for the chosen date range and locations.
- Assigned cards: The percentage of total cards sold that have been assigned to a customer, regardless of whether they're active or empty.
Understanding the statistics breakdowns
Use the statistics breakdowns to view the current gift card total at the chosen location, the percentage of gift card usage, and the most common refill methods.
- Outstanding balance: The total amount currently loaded onto gift cards for the chosen location. The gift cards totalling this amount have not yet been spent at your business.
- Gift card usage: The times gift cards are used as payment versus other payment methods, displayed as both a percentage and a graph. This data is based on your Net sales.
- Top refill methods: The top five payment methods customers use to refill reloadable gift cards. You can view the name of each payment method, the amount spent in Gross sales, and the percentage of total gift card refills using that payment method.
Understanding the activity section
Use the activity section to view the Gift card activity chart, as well as breakdown sections with more detailed information.
Gift card activity chart
The Gift card activity chart displays the monetary value of Loads and Redemptions for the chosen date range. The chart automatically displays this data in hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly intervals depending on the date range.
- Loads: The total amount loaded onto gift cards within the chosen date range.
- Redemptions: The total amount spent at your business in both gift card refills and gift card payments. Hover over this bar to view the percentage breakdown.
Gift card activity breakdown sections
The Gift card activity breakdown sections display more detailed information about gift card loads and redemptions, including total value loaded, total value redeemed, and average daily redemption. This data applies to the chosen date range.
- Total value loaded: The total amount in gift card sales and refills for the chosen date range.
- Average value loaded: The average amount in gift card sales and refills for the chosen date range.
- Average daily loads: The average daily amount in gift card sales and refills for the chosen date range.
- Total value redeemed: The total amount in gift card payments for the chosen date range.
- Average value redeemed: The average amount in gift card payments for the chosen date range.
- Average daily redemption: The average daily amount in gift card payments for the chosen date range.
