Hi. How can we help?

Understanding the Dashboard page

The Dashboard page in the Back Office summarizes activity taking place at your business in the Lightspeed Restaurant POS app. It includes data such as gross revenue, profit margin, shift results, and other sales metrics to provide a well-rounded overview of how your restaurant is performing. Date ranges can be selected to change the time periods reflected on this page.

The Dashboard automatically loads after logging in to the Back Office, but you can also access it by clicking Home on the updated Back Office navigation menu. This page is composed of two main sections, the results tiles and sales tiles, and it has an About button that contains details about the business itself.

Results tiles

The results tiles appear on the left side of the Dashboard in a single column and include gross results, shift results, and profit margin. The date range for these tiles is set to the current day by default but can be changed to the previous day or the current week, month, or year by clicking the buttons above the tiles. The table in this section provides a detailed description of each results tile.

  • Gross result: Total value of all orders opened during the selected time period, regardless of whether payment was received. This tile also contains the pre-tax total, the number of transactions, staff, and point-of-sale devices that contributed to the gross result, and a graph of the gross result over time. Click one of the links to visit the Business Report (gross result amount), Receipt Report (total transactions), or Shifts Report (staff or point of sales contributed).
  • Shift results: Gross result (total value of all orders opened during the selected time period) and net result (total value of paid orders only) displayed by reporting shift in a bar graph. Click the tile name to view the full Shifts Report, or hover over a bar on the graph to see the covers and tickets for the shift.
  • Gross profit margin: Amount of profit generated (i.e., the gross revenue and tax from items with a Cost price minus the Cost price of each item) and the percentage that this value represents.

Sales tiles

The sales tiles appear on the right side of the Dashboard and include more information about your POS activity, such as the most-ordered items and average revenue per ticket. The date range for the first several tiles is set to the last 30 days by default but can be changed to the last three months, current year, or previous year by clicking the buttons above the tiles. The table in this section provides a detailed description of each sales tile.

  • Avg table occupancy time: Average number of hours and minutes it took for an order to be closed after it was opened at a table during the selected date range.
  • Revenue per cover: Average revenue generated by each cover during the selected date range. This is the gross result (total value of all orders opened during the selected time period) or net result (total value of paid orders only) for orders with at least one cover divided by the total number of covers for all orders. Click Gross or Net to switch between these values.
  • Revenue per ticket: Average revenue generated by each order during the selected date range. This is the gross result (total value of all orders opened during the selected time period) or net result (total value of paid orders only) divided by the total number of orders. Click Gross or Net to switch between these values.
  • Top tenders: Top payment methods according to the amount paid by each during the selected date range. Click the icons to toggle between the bar graph and list view. On the graph, hover over a bar to see the total amount.
  • Top sales: Top items based on the amount of revenue generated by each during the selected date range, and the total number of times each was ordered. Click the tile name to view the full Products report. Top hours: Lists the busiest hours according to the amount of revenue generated during the selected date range. Click the tile name to view the full Hourly Performance report.
  • Cancellations: Shows the number of cancellations and corrections made in the past four days and the past four weeks. Each voided order or item counts as one cancellation. Click the tile name to view the full Cancellations and Corrections report, or click a day or week to view the report for that period.
  • Stock: Shows all items currently with a stock level less than 10. Click the tile name or an item name to view the Stock Management page.
  • Best day ever: Day with the highest sales total in the history of your Lightspeed Restaurant account. Top customers: Top customers according to the lifetime amount they've spent at your business. Click the tile name to view the full Customers page, or click a customer name to view their receipts.
