What's New: April 2026 - Table pacing, reservations, pricing insights and more

From Back Office enhancements to POS updates and more, here’s what’s been added or improved.

Some features take effect automatically, but others require an update. To access everything new, update the Lightspeed Restaurant app via the App Store outside of business hours on all POS devices.

How to set it up

Lightspeed Tempo is available in the Back Office to Core and Pro users in EMEA and Essential and Premium users in NOAM and APAC. To get started:

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. From the navigation menu, select Analytics.
  3. Select Tempo.

Fill more tables with Lightspeed Reservations

Capture more bookings from your website with the new widget, manage arrival pacing and same-day bookings, and stay in the loop on every new booking to keep service smooth and predictable.

Capture more bookings with the new website widget

The new website widget places booking front and center on your site, enabling a seamless, on-site booking experience to help you capture more reservations directly from your website.

Run a perfectly paced restaurant

Arrival Pacing and same-day booking controls help you manage service flow with confidence. Set limits on bookings per 30-minute window to avoid overload and apply cut-off times to prevent last-minute reservations, ensuring smoother, more predictable shifts.

Stay in the loop on every new booking

Instant booking notifications and daily summary emails keep your team informed at all times. Receive real-time alerts for new reservations and start each shift with a clear overview of expected covers to support better planning and preparation.

How to set it up

Website widget

Navigate to your Back Office > Reservations, and generate a website widget code. You can then embed the code on your website.

Pacing & control

Navigate to your Back Office > Reservations. In the Reservations settings, toggle on Max guests arriving within 30 minutes and set your capacity limit. For same-day bookings, turn the Same-day booking toggle off.

Email notifications

In the Reservations dashboard, configure your email recipients to start receiving instant booking alerts.

POS updates

Update

Navigate faster on the POS

The updated POS navigation introduces thumb-friendly, one-handed navigation on iPhone, a cleaner interface with up to 15% more screen space, and a unified layout across devices. Together these improvements speed up workflows, reduce staff fatigue, and simplify onboarding.

How to set it up

This feature is currently in Beta. Once in General Availability (GA), this will become a default setting.

  1. Update the Lightspeed Restaurant app to the latest version.
  2. Log in to the Back Office.
  3. Navigate to Business > Beta.
  4. Toggle on New POS Navigation.
  5. Sync your POS device to apply changes.

Update

Improve communication between front-of-house and the kitchen

This update introduces reusable notes, customizable allergen lists, and improved note visibility controls to streamline ordering and communication. Staff can add clear, consistent instructions faster, while kitchens receive prioritized, easy-to-read tickets—reducing errors and improving safety.

How to set it up

Notes

Navigate to Back Office > Menu > Production Instructions > Notes. Click Add Notes to save your most frequent requests.

Allergens

Navigate to Back Office > Menu > Production Instructions > Allergens. Add, delete, or drag-and-drop to reorder them based on your menu needs.

Once saved, these preferences will automatically sync and respect the chosen order on your POS devices.

Smarter pricing insights in Benchmarks and Trends

You can now access item-level pricepoint summaries across food and drink categories, helping you benchmark your pricing against the market. Gain clearer insights into pricing trends and customer spending to support more informed, strategic decisions.

Streamline reporting with custom saved views

It’s now easy to save views across key reports, allowing you to store custom filters and layouts for quick access. Streamline reporting workflows and ensure consistent, accurate insights by viewing the same data sets without reconfiguring each time.

This update will automatically be available in the following reports in your Back Office: Sales Report, Sales Summary, Location Summary, Hourly Sales, and Staff Performance.

Order Anywhere updates

Update

Ensure no orders are missed during busy periods

You can now show upcoming Order for Later requests directly in the POS, giving teams visibility into scheduled orders, making it easier to prepare for future demand and reduce surprises.

Scheduled orders will now appear directly in the POS Web Extension. This gives staff visibility on upcoming orders during service.
