From Back Office enhancements to POS updates and more, here’s what’s been added or improved.
Some features take effect automatically, but others require an update. To access everything new, update the Lightspeed Restaurant app via the App Store outside of business hours on all POS devices.
New
Spotlight of the month: Lightspeed Tempo

How to set it up
Lightspeed Tempo is available to Core and Pro users in the Back Office. To get started:
- Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
- From the navigation menu, select Analytics.
- Select Tempo.

Reservations built into your POS
Lightspeed Reservations lets guests book through your website, Google or social channels. It’s an easy booking tool that’s built right into your POS so you can capture reservations, seat guests, update tables and send reminders without having to change systems.
How to set it up
In your Back Office, navigate to the “Grow your business” section, and click “Try free for 30 Days”.
POS and KDS updates

An easier way to view orders
Show or hide the keypad in both seat and course modes to free up screen space, review large orders faster, and minimize scrolling during busy shifts. This update lets staff reclaim screen space when reviewing orders—making large tickets easier to check and reducing errors before firing.
How to set it up
Upgrade your app to v26.4.0, and staff can toggle the keypad directly in the order view.
- Tap the keyboard icon to show/hide the keypad
- The setting persists until changed by the user

Faster, safer, smarter ordering
Make ordering clearer and quicker with built-in notes. Add instructions directly to orders, seats or courses. Update your POS with special requests, dietary restrictions and other specific notes to the kitchen instantly.
No configuration needed. These features are enabled by default.
New
Instant pickup notifications
Orders marked ready on the KDS now trigger automatic notifications to integrated third-party ordering platforms. There’s no need to update it again on the POS, ensuring fewer steps and faster handovers.
How to set it up
No setup required. Simply update your app version to 24.6 or later. Once updated, orders marked ready on the KDS will automatically trigger the notification.

Keep your team on track, every shift
Lightspeed Tasks is the in-built digital task management tool designed to boost efficiency, maintain consistency and build high-performing teams across every location. Replace paper lists with digital checklists, assign tasks, track progress and see who completed what—all in one place.
How to set it up
- Log in to the Back Office.
- Navigate to Tasks.
- Create checklists, add tasks, assign to different staff members, set reminders and determine how the tasks are completed, such as with photos, signatures.
New in reporting
Update
Smarter reporting across your locations
Analyze sales performance across multiple restaurants in a single report and export location-level details for deeper analysis. This update is designed to reduce manual reporting, ensure consistency and help stakeholders identify trends across locations.
How to set it up
No setup required. On the sales summary page, there will be a new filter to select multi-location.
Payments and checkout updates

Mobile Tap for Tableside is now available in Canada
Take faster payments at the table with Mobile Tap and Lightspeed Tableside. Take orders and accept tap, chip & PIN and mobile payments right at the table—no app switching, fewer errors, and quicker table turnover.

Track Order with Google performance with visual dashboards and time-based charts to understand demand patterns and optimize staffing. Analyze your orders by hour, day or month to identify busy periods and better measure Google as an acquisition channel.

In Order Anywhere, you can now offer percentage discounts to make ordering more attractive, drive higher spend per transaction and keep customers coming back.
This feature is currently only available in Europe.
