About Back Office navigation changes

Our new, improved Back Office navigation menu helps you access individual pages more quickly and intuitively. We’ve reduced the depth of the menu system and reorganized everything based on how different features relate to your business.

This article explains each section of the updated menu and covers how we’ve moved or changed particular menu options.

The K-Series Help Center has already been updated to reflect the new navigation. If our steps don't match what you see in your Back Office sidebar, you can:

Switching to the new navigation

Enable the new Back Office navigation menu to begin familiarizing yourself with the changes. On October 1, 2025, the new navigation will automatically be enabled for all Lightspeed Restaurant users.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. From your Back Office homepage, locate the banner regarding navigation updates.
  3. Click the option on the banner for enabling the updates. 

Sections of the new menu

The navigation menu on the left sidebar categorizes the various features in the Back Office and includes a search bar for quick navigation to specific features.

Reports | Access the Sales summary and other reporting, such as sales and staff reports.

Benchmarks & Trends | View the Benchmarks & Trends report, which shows how your sales data compares to other nearby businesses using Lightspeed Restaurant. 

Advanced Insights | Our Advanced Insights add-on is a proprietary reporting system that offers comprehensive access into your key business metrics.

Menu | Add, edit, and manage menus, items, production instructions, and accounting groups.

POS | Control different settings for your POS devices, including their configurations, connection codes, users, and user groups.

Business | Handle key parts of your business setup, like general settings, Back Office users, your floor plan, and order profiles.

Hardware | Configure printing for the POS, your payment terminals, and cash drawer tracking.

Operations | Manage aspects of your daily operations, such as the hours your employees have worked.

Payment | Edit settings related to the payments you accept at the POS, including receipt layouts, payment methods, discounts, and taxes. You'll also find customer invoicing features, such as a list of debtors.

Customers | Add, view, and manage customer information, gift cards, and loyalty cards.

Inventory | Manage stock levels through our Inventory module, which provides detailed insights and tracking capabilities.

Integrations | Set up third-party integrations that connect with Lightspeed Restaurant to add functions like online ordering and reservations. You can also view reports on integration activity, such as the PMS Postings report.
