Product Mix Report

The Product Mix Report gives an overview of sales by accounting group, account profile, statistical category, and product.

Generate a Product Mix Report in the Back Office by choosing a reporting period and filtering or searching the report as needed. Enable and disable report columns to add or remove information from the table, customizing it to your business needs. Export reports as a spreadsheet to save them outside the Back Office.

Generating Product Mix reports

Generate the Product Mix report by choosing a reporting period, filtering, and searching its data. Filter by account profile, device, staff, shift, or tag.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. Select Reports > Reports from the navigation bar.
  3. Click Product Mix Report in the Sales Reports section.
  4. Click the calendar icon and choose a range of days from the calendar to adjust the reporting period.
  5. To filter the view:
    1. Search in results or select account profile, accounting group, device, staff, shift, or tags from the Filters drop-down.
    2. Enable them from the list.
    3. Click Apply.
  6. Review the data on the Product Mix Report. For help understanding each column, see the table below.
  7. (Optional) Switch between tabs to see sales by statistic categories (see FAQs for details on statistic categories), accounting groups, or account profiles.

Product Mix report table

Find out what items have been sold and how much Sales have been made including and excluding taxes, broken down by products, statistic categories, accounting groups, and account profiles. If some columns are not visible, they are not enabled in the Back Office. Refer to Editing columns on Product Mix reports for details on enabling columns.

Report Description
Item name The name of the item as it appears in the Back Office and on the POS. See About items for details on items. For combo items, hover over the symbol Bildschirmfoto_2022-03-14_um_2.09.01_PM.png next to the combo’s name to review items sold in the combo.
Accounting group The accounting group the item is sorted in. See About accounting groups for details on accounting groups.
Quantity Number of items sold on the POS.
Sales (tax incl.) Sum of gross sales of items.
Tax Taxes on sold items.
Sales (tax excl.) Net sales are calculated as the Sales (tax incl.) minus Tax.
Zero priced count Items for which no price is charged on the POS.
Transaction amount (tax incl.) The authorized amount for the transaction including taxes.
Transaction amount (tax excl.) The authorized amount for the transaction excluding taxes.
Discounted amount Total amount of discounts granted on items.
Discounted quantity Number of items with discounts granted.
Offered amount Amount at which the item is offered (minus discount).
Offered quantity Number of Offered amount items.
Loss amount Total amount of items marked as wastage.
Loss quantity Number of wastage items.
Returned amount Amount of items that have been returned to the kitchen/bar (for instance, not baked well, too cold, etc.) and the customer got their money back (if already paid for it).
Returned quantity Number of items that have been returned.
Margin (tax incl.) The profit margin for the item: total item sales with taxes - costs.
Margin (tax excl.) The profit margin for the item: total item sales without taxes - costs.
Costs Item costs.
Service charge Amount of all service charges.

Editing columns on Product Mix reports

Enable and disable columns in the Back Office to customize the product mix table based on your preferences. This customization changes the view of the report in the Back Office, but all columns will be visible when exporting the report.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. Select Reports > Reports from the navigation bar.
  3. Click Product Mix Report in the Sales Reports section.
  4. Click Edit table and modify the report:
    1. Enable columns you wish to see in the table and disable columns that are not needed.
    2. To change the order of columns, click the dashes and drag the column upward or downward.
  5. Click Save.

Exporting Product Mix reports

Export product mix reports into a CSV spreadsheet file to save the data outside the Back Office to analyze in spreadsheet software.

The export takes into account the report's date range, the filters, and all columns not only the ones enabled when editing product mix reports.

  1. Log in to the Back Office with your Lightspeed Restaurant credentials.
  2. Select Reports > Reports from the navigation bar.
  3. Click Product Mix Report in the Sales Reports section.
  4. Click Export.
  5. Select a File format for the CSV export based on the device where you will open the file (Mac or Windows).
  6. Click Export to start the file download.

What's next?

The reports linked to below are all additional Sales Reports:

Business reports give a quick overview of important business data, such as profits, losses, and taxes.

Products Reports display an overview of sold products for the selected time period categorized by Total, Discounted, Offered, Loss, Returned, Transaction, Margin, and Cost.

In the Shifts Report gross (Sales) and net results (Takings) are broken down by reporting shift periods.

Staff Reports provide sales data for each staff member who used the POS during the selected time period.

Device Reports provide Sales data for each POS device used during the selected time period.

Hourly Performance shows the gross sales amount by day of the week in the selected time period.

Text Messages Reports list all custom notes entered on the POS device during the selected period.

KDS Statistics shows the number of products prepared, the fastest, slowest, and average preparation time, as well as the total time it took to prepare the items.
